7 Day Journal Challenge: Self Acceptance

I usually post a rant about self-love in the beginning of Summer because there is all this “summer body” noise. My intention of posting this 7 Day Journal Challenge, is to take some of the focus off of our physical appearance, and honor our inner self (socially/emotionally/intellectually/spiritually/whatever resinates for you).

What works for others may not always work for you, so please do not be discouraged if journaling is not your thing. Also, being in touch with ourselves in this way can be triggering, so please reach out for support as needed/call 1-800-273-8255.

Monday:

  • What is one thing you will do this week to challenge your body image and move towards body image resilience?

  • What is a short reminder to tell yourself today?

  • What is a way of being that you need from others today?

Tuesday:

  • Put your hand over your heart. How is your body working for you and not against you?

  • Imagine your body could talk, what would it say it needs?

  • List three things you will do this week/are already doing to take care of your body

Wednesday:

  • What is your current relationship with your body? What do you love/not love etc.

  • What would it look/feel like to be able to love yourself as you are?

  • What do you want your coworkers/people in your life to see about you today that might not be visible from the outside?

Thursday:

  • Do you treat yourself the way you expect others to treat you?

  • What do you say when your friends say something negative about themselves? Do you then share out on your own self-deprecation?

  • Write what you would say to a friend without talking negatively about themself.

Friday:

  • How much of your self worth do you tie to your body image?

  • How do you think society/the economy benefits from self-hatred?

  • Have you ever said/posted anything negative about the way someone looks?

Saturday:

  • How often do you think: ‘If my body was just (fill in the blank) I would be happy’?

  • List at least 5 things in your life that make you happy now.

  • How many of those can your body do without being any different than in it is right now?

Sunday:

You made it through a week of journaling, congrats!!

  • Write about the pride you have for yourself.

  • How did it feel doing something purposefully for yourself each day?

  • What is a realistic self-care goal you can incorporate into your life each week?
